If you are a full-time or part-time student of Solstice Hybrid Academy, another microschool, or individual homeschool student, you are invited to join us for our daily enrichment activities. We’ll be exploring different places each day and engaging in different activities that focus on STEAM. Solstice Hybrid Academy offers students the opportunity to learn in a way that connects classroom learning to real life experiences. This is a more organic way of learning that really resonates with our students and inspires them to want to learn more. All enrichment activities are included in Full-time and part-time tuition on the days you attend SHA, and all homeschool students that join us can select different packages and dates they would like to attend. This is a great chance for our students to socialize and share with our community.
Enrichment Activities
Enrichment activities occur during the afternoon between 12:30pm- 2:30pm.
We currently offer several opportunities for students to engage in a plethora of activities! Such as:
-Being part of our very own podcast SHApod
-Theatre workshop at Virginia Stage Company
-Martial Arts class at Norfolk Karate Academy
-Improvisational class at Push Comedy
-Spanish lesson at Norfolk Public Library
-Social and Emotional education through Social Butterflies
-Visits to an Elizabeth River Project destination
-Tours of television stations such as WHRO
-Tours of hospitals such as CHKD
-Museum visits to Nauticus, Viriginia Air and Space, Aquarium, Zoo
-Seasonal boat rides with Electrified Marina
-Monthly workshops with Tidewater Wooden Boat Workshop
-Tours of Fire Stations and Police Stations
-Tending to livestock at Wonderland Farm
-Learning about nature through art at The Hermitage
-Trail conservation through Elizabeth Trail Foundation
-Homesteading activities from Wild+Free
-Monthly visits to Chrysler Museum of Art to recreate a masterpiece
-Transform Trash to treasure at 757 Creative ReUse Center
-Create Art based off of our monthly themes at Outside the Lines Art Studio
-Unique artistic adventures to places like 757MakerSpace, Norfolk Tour Company, MOCA, Naro and more!
